Dr Sridurga Mithraprabhu
I am a Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, Alfred Health – Monash University, leading the Liquid Biopsy Program within Professor Andrew Spencer’s Myeloma Research Group (MRG). I am also the Principal Scientist for the M1000 National Biobank Research Committee and the Australasian Myeloma Research Consortium.
I obtained my PhD in 2008, investigating the role of c-Kit in spermatogenesis and haematopoiesis in Professor Kate Loveland’s laboratory, supported by the Monash International Postgraduate Scholarship and Monash Graduate Scholarship. Since joining MRG in 2010, I have significantly contributed to multiple myeloma research, particularly in the realm of histone deacetylase inhibition.
In 2014, I established several liquid biopsy methodologies. My pioneering research is dedicated to advancing therapeutic strategies and diagnostic modalities for multiple myeloma through the development of blood-based liquid biopsies aimed at improving genomic characterisation and patient outcomes. This work has garnered substantial funding, including a Victorian Cancer Agency Mid-Career Fellowship and support from the Medical Research Future Fund, National Health and Medical Research Council, and the International Myeloma Foundation.
I continue to drive impactful research, assembling a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive diagnostic platforms integrating liquid biopsy methodologies. My commitment to innovation underscores my ongoing contributions to the field of haematological malignancies.
